There's no one I'd rather be than me.

- Wreck-It Ralph (2012).

A game well played.
I promise I sometimes watch grown up films too, but this morning I caught up with a bit of Disney at a Wreck It Ralph screening, and I am CHEESIN' about it.

Massive Mr Wreck-It Ralph (John C. Reilly), fictitious 'Fix-It Felix' video game fame - someone got paid to come up with these names? - is tired of always playing the bad guy of the video game world. He takes it into his own hands to change his fate (a la Merida of Brave style) and goes game hopping across Litwak's arcade.

It's the video game world of feisty Vanellope von Schweetz; also known as the virtual version of Sarah Silverman that becomes threatened by Ralph's 'ham hands'...

The similarities to Pixar are undeniable, from the animation itself, to the driving plot story, to the characters coming alive when we aren't looking. It's Game Central setting also has a slight resemblance to Monsters Inc... It's not accidental; for the executive producer is none other than my FAVE, John Lasseter.

On that note, did you ever think your toys came alive at night? I totally did.

In true Disney style, the film is a celebration of individuality personified - none more so than through sweet but tough as nails Schweetz. I had to admit, the sweety puns get a bit thin but all in all I love this character - she brings the depth and wit the film so desperately needs.

I'm not going to lie, there was almost a tear - but I kept it together.

I'm cool.

I reckon if you're really into video games - particularly 1980's, I'm a little partial to a good ol' Sega Mega Drive myself - this film will hit home for you. The sentimental mushy parts may be a bit trying, but worth it purely for the giggles courtesy of the relationship dynamics of  Schweetz & Ralph and a wonderful Felix (Jack McBrayer) & Sgt Calhoun (Jane Lynch).

Oh, and that cheesier than stilton soundtrack will be stuck in your head for days.

Have you seen this? Will you?
