You don't know me, but I know me.

- The Notebook (2004).

Forever Young

Recently I've noticed a lot of my friends are getting married, preggers (!), and buying houses and I'm not going to lie, I've been having a little bit of a hypothetical mental breakdown. We are so youngggggg guyzzz!

Love and romance has always been a bit of a sticky subject area for me, coming from a divorced parents background I guess you could say my outlook is a bit tainted. Blue Valentine is what term:
 "A a modern day romance"
...
 "God help us all."

If you haven't seen the film but would like to know what I'm blabbering on about, you can read a plot synopsis here. I'm also pretty sure it's on LoveFilm. But I'm gonna spoil it for you anyway:

1. They get married because she's preggers.
2. It's a whirlwind.
3. They separate.

I truly believe that all too often in our society the institute of marriage is no more; people get married on a drunken whim, they rush into things, infatuation can be confusing...

Do you believe in soul mates?

I can't believe how grown up we all are now... my cousin just had her first born (wee caaaaayutie) and she asked if I'd like to hold him:

"I'll drop him and he'll die"

She didn't offer again.

I can barely look after myself never mind a mini human being! The closest I plan to get for a looooong time (OH will be glad to hear) is my Alf, who you can see at the bottom of this lengthy post.

After rambling last week about my charity shop love I felt the need to share another stellar buy, this top has a cut out back which I probably should have shown you, but we'll save that for another time. This was going out for a friends birthday drinks to a local bar - nothing too smart, nothing too casual and I think these trousers fit the bill perfectly.

top: charity shop (originally river island)      trousers: asos (now in the sale, dammit!) ring: charity shop

shoes: red herring     bag: charity shop (50p!)

Oh, and here's my wee man!
I just got back from a weeks holiday, and he got so excited to see me he was rolling about in sawdust. classic.

  5. Love your outfit, and Alf is a cuuutie! I agree about the settling down stuff, part of me feels a bit immature when I see people younger than me that are already married with their multiple kids (whaaaaat) but it seems very early to be thinking about that sort of thing! We're only young once and I intend to have just a few more selfish years haha xxx

  9. Alf is so cute!!! We have a house rabbit at my mum's, aptly named Fluffy because he is the biggest fluffball you ever saw - his hair is so long he has a center parting!! I love your trousers, they remind me of those lovely tapestry bags. I turned 24 in December and most people my age have got a few kids or are planning their weddings!! I'm nowhere near to either, there seems to be such a big rush about it all... I don't even know what I want to do with my life, does anyone?! haha I have mini mental breakdowns about these situations all the time! xx
